2024’s Top EV Goes To…The Volvo EX30

A Big Win in a Small Package

2024 has been a big year for many reasons, and it’s always fun to reflect on the highlights of the year. For Volvo, one major highlight was the 2025 Volvo EX30 winning Elektrek’s EV of 2024 award. At McDonald Volvo, we are honored to be a part of the Volvo family, and it brings us even more joy this winter  season to share this exciting news.

Elektrek shared the reason the EX30 was awarded this title is, ” because it embodies the future of EVs”. As Volvo is always innovating and looking to the future, we feel that this award is a testament to the efforts of the brand.

One specific feature that makes this EV stand out is its size. Its compact dimensions allow for easier parking and less energy required  to drive compared to larger EVs. Beyond that, the battery can go from 10% to 80% charged in little more than 25 minutes when using most DC fast chargers.

But don’t let its size fool you. As we’ve noted before, the EX30 packs a punch. It offers a horsepower of  268 on the RWD variant and 422 on the AWD. It also has 253 lb-ft of torque on the RWD and 400 lb-ft on the AWD, as well as a towing capacity of 2,000 lbs.

If all of that wasn’t enough, it also comes at an impressive price point. The starting price of $44,900 MSRP is especially impressive for an electric vehicle—let alone a luxury one.
